How to link digitalization with sustainability for businesses

Context

In today’s business landscape, digitalization and sustainability efforts strongly intersect. As Europe increasingly positions itself as a sustainability frontrunner, legislative frameworks such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) will have major (indirect) consequences for companies of every size. Here, the emphasis on considering the role of digitalization within corporate sustainability is growing (coined as the ‘twin transition’).

Indeed, organizations face a dual challenge: how to harness the power of digital technology while remaining environmentally and socially responsible. SustAIn.brussels - with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel Business Development Academy and Université libre de Bruxelles in a steering role - presents a masterclass designed to empower businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to align digital strategies with sustainability goals.

What will you learn

The masterclass provides the necessary introduction to (IT) managers and individuals actively engaged in the digital landscape who wish to increase the sustainability of their digital infrastructure. Participants will gain insights into cybersecurity, responsible IT practices, and the intricate interplay between digital technologies, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility in a corporate context.

After the masterclass, you will be able to answer the following questions:

•    How does sustainability interlink with digitalization?

•    What are the specific impacts of digital technologies used within my business?

•    How do cybersecurity and privacy interlink with sustainable digitalization?

•    How can sustainability be included during the design phase of digital systems?

•    How is AI interlinked with sustainability?

For whom

Business representatives, sustainability coordinators and IT-managers interested in increasing the sustainability of their digital infrastructure/digital product
